ReVISION Vegas Home retrofit
enhanced by BASF chemistry

BASF collaborates with the Department of Energy and Green Builder Media to present the Vegas ReVISION demonstration home—a 1963 mid-century modern home in Las Vegas got an energy-efficiency overhaul, improving performance from a HERS score of 123 to 44. It will be a net-zero energy home when the 4.8 kW of photovoltaic panels are added.
Amidst the housing crisis and foreclosures, a silver lining may be the upgrading existing homes. This demonstration home shows homeowners how they can transform a typical energy hog home into a net-zero energy home—a home that makes as much energy as it uses.
Upgrading energy efficiency is the key to seeing a return on investment for renewable energy systems. At ReVISION Vegas, energy consumption is reduced now that the insulation had been upgraded, ENERGY STAR® windows and appliances have been installed, allowing the solar panels to generate most of the energy the home needs. Moreover, all of these upgrades are now more affordable than ever due to Federal tax incentives.
