Background
Resiliency and sustainability start with the right chemistry that reduces environmental impact, while protecting buildings and infrastructures from the growing frequency and severity of natural disasters across the globe. This year, Joel May will present "#HurricaneStrong in Breezy Point: Building Back Through Partnerships & Collaboration," scheduled for June 21 from 7:00 to 8:00 am, at the Hilton Midtown, in the Gramercy Room. He will talk about how ultimate sustainability is resilience, and how partnership programs like Disaster Durable Solutions by BASF activate products, people and methodology into action.
Plan and design resiliency before construction through building information modeling. Ricardo Rodriguez will present "Rage Against the Machines: Surviving the end of architecture," June 21 at 10:30 to 11:30 am. He will focus on which industry-changing technologies will accelerate creative practices and how to empower a new generation of designers educated in human-centered design, research, spatial interaction and coding. Both presentations will be at The New School, 63 5th Avenue, Room UL105.
